Shabbat in the ward of Aldgate and in the Liberty of the Old Artillery Ground

At Bevis Marks - a pleasant Friday night service was conducted by Rabbi Cohen with four singers accompanying him on the tebah. There were around 14 gentlemen in the congregation and about six ladies.
After the service the congregation  retired to the former restaurant for dinner, accompanied by much singing and an address by the Rabbi.

A special Kiddush was held on Shabbath morning in honour of Hannukah, because the first candle was lit this evening after Shabbath ended.

At Sandy's Row there was also a special kiddush, indeed the congregation was so large there wasn't room to fit everyone into the small hall on the balcony. Approximately 90 people attended the Shabbath morning service at Sandy's Row.

Following a pleasant Shabbat, the inhabitants of the area prepared their Hannukiyoth, and lit the first light of the Festival.

Shaharith tomorrow morning will be held at Bevis Marks at a quarter to nine a.m, followed by a breakfast in honour of the Festival.
