Shabbath Vaera in Aldgate and the Old Artillery Ground

Candlelighting tonight is at 4pm. Shabbat terminates at   5.14pm or   5.29pm Rabbenu Tam time.
Astronomical Sunset is at 16:15:42

Services in the East End this Shabbat:

Friday Night at Bevis Marks is at 6.30pm
Shabbath morning at Bevis Marks at 8.30am
Minha at Nelson Street Sephardishe Synagogue after Kiddush.

No services at Sandy's Row in the Old Artillery Ground.

Why do I put the time of astronomical sunset? Although for women Shabbath must begin at the customary time of candle-lighting, which is an addition to Shabbath
( women light 15 minutes in advance of sunset, and this is the published time on calendars), men are not bound by this stricture, and may continue the weekday period for a bit longer if necessary, while taking care, of course, not to be mechallel Shabbath. Men living alone are obligated to light Shabbath candles, but may light them at any time before sunset - although pushing things to fine is not to be recommended, as Tosefet Shabbath - adding to Shabbath - is considered to be a good thing.

Also remember - men say the beracha, and then light the candles, in the usual manner for all mitzvoth, where the beracha comes before the action.

Women have a unique minhag - they light, then cover their eyes, and then recite the beracha.
